Yes I did ... hook, line and sinker. It never even occurred to me that they might be lying to me. I mean really, these are people with the highest of all moral standards. They would never blatantly lie to me - would they? I think that logic is part of the reason the R&F put up with 'new light'. They don't believe that the GB would deliberately deceive them. By the time I witnessed the third flip-flop, I didn't care if it was intentional or not - they were lying!!!!!

Did you blindly accept all the JW teachings?
by JH ini was the "good jw", that accepted everything they taught, without even thinking of searching to see if it was true.
and how could i have searched to see if what they preach was true?
i don't speak hebrew or greek.

They wonder why they are losing people???
by LongHairGal ini have to laugh at how hard they try to bring people in by knocking on doors and rv's - but once the people are in they are pushing them out the back door with both hands!
we all remember how hard it was to stay there (even if you believed it all) - let alone the head-trips they put you through!!
listen to this.

What on earth is one to do with such a small pool to choose from? .
Again I say, if the GB would relax their standards they could retain more members along with (gasp) increasing the level of joy in the congos. Alas, they continue to preach "your happiness is not our concern, just do what
weJehovah says and that should be sufficent for you".(sweet tee of the 'so glad it ain't me' class)

Great news! Keep it up you Gutless Boobies, the more you tighten your grip the more witnoids will come to their senses and forsake the sh*t sessions altogether. Not to mention the youths who are already totally fed up with your dribble, and think their parents are NUTS for following this cult. Believe me, they're just biding their time (like dune ) escape is inevitable.

My Mom Requests They Don't Announce Her Name If She Is Sick--- On Platform
by minimus inmy mother's so disillusioned by the elders, circuit overseer and society for removing her as a pioneer for going to my daughter's wedding in which she married an "unbeliever", that she has told the elders not to even announce her name if they find out she's been sick or could use some welcomed calls.
nope!
she just wants them to stay away from her as long as is possible.

I'm glad to hear that the witlesses lack of love has finally become apparent to your mum. What a terrible way to treat someone after years (how many?) of loyal, full-time book sales! They do not know the definition of the word love - let alone how to manifest what they call 'agape' love . Your mother loved her daughter enough to be there for her special day - but the elders cannot see past the assimilation factor as regards the 'unbeliever' and felt they would 'show her' - humph. I hope for the sake your fam. that they've lost a salesperson!!!

Do you believe in miracles?
by hibiscusfire in.
i believe in miracles.
even the birth of a new born is a miracle.. there is no such thing as luck.. hibiscusfire

Hey Hibiscusfire!
I have never experienced a miracle myself so I have to say no. I wouldn't call a recovery 'miraculous' unless there was no medical personnel or treatment involved. It may be a 'surprise' that a patient recovered WITH medical treatment, but I hardly call that a miracle.
Sometimes things happen for a reason can you explain why?
This phrase and it's close cousin "everything happens for a reason" are real cop outs to me. Especially when Christians use this as salve to cover the pain of tragic events. You see hib, people attribute both good and bad to God. But I can't believe that God would kill a child just to take them to heaven. I don't believe either that God would protect 1 passenger but let 299 others die. If one cannot explain 'why' things happen then the wise answer is 'I don't know'. Then if you want to find out seek the answer for yourself.
I know that you won't agree with my response so let me kill the back and forth banter before it starts: You and I will not agree on this topic. That doesn't mean that I am not interested in reading your point of view and others. I don't see any need to argue and name call on a discussion board. I don't treat people that way in person and I won't allow the anonymity of the internet to change my nature. I do have strong opinions on some things ... but like my grandmother used to say - an opionion is like an a**hole, everybody has one .
If you wouldn't mind answering this question, I would like to know why you come here to preach to people that are trying to recover from being in a cult. I know that some have a new spiritual outlook, but the attempts at proselytyzing on a board with a bunch of non-believers reminds me of my former cult days. I would feel sad and rejected when my message was rebuffed and I genuninely felt sorry for the person rejecting it. Do you do that too?

god bless this site
by hurt dave infor someone who was raised in the "truth" for 17 years it was a very hard and a very scary decision when my father finnally had the "you must choose a side of the fence" speech and when i chose not to do it anymore he flipped his lid and i so "tormented" by my decsion i latched on to "maryjane" to fill the "need".
after living with my parents for two years and then on my own for two more years crying everynoght cause i was alone not knowing way i felt this way this way, i felt a spirtual need at 3:30am i drove to my dads house and beged him to let me came home because the "voices" were drivin me crazy and i needed "guidance" he said well get you a meeting with elders and a "bible study".
so i move back in, had a talk with the elders where they used the bible to call me stupid and i went to there meeting where they used what i said in private and made a whole new talk based around it i broke down crying and prayed to god for the guidacne to make me strong and make the tears stop and the holy spirt led me to this site i moved in with my brother and told my parents i can know longer belive the "truth".

Welcome to the forum hurt dave ((((((((((((((((((((((( HUGS ))))))))))))))))))))))))))
The cruelty of some of the people in that organization never ceases to amaze me. They have no idea how to 'shepherd' anyone. I'm glad you're here. This site has helped me a lot and I'm sure it will do the same for you. Just having someone to talk to who UNDERDTANDS where you've been and how it affects you is a huge benifit. You are among true friends.

What funny "Saying" do you sometimes use?
by JH inhere in quebec, one funny expression people say is "donne a manger a un cochon, et il viendra chier sur ton perron" .
word for word in english this would mean: feed a pig, and he will shit on your porch.
in other words, sometimes you try to be nice to people, and they don't always try to be nice to you in return.. .

I feel your pain. My ex-dubsman basically shuns all four of our children because I'm dfd. It's a horrible thing for them to have to live through. He has no idea how much his behaviour is hurting them .
